GUARD DOG SEEKS NEW POSITION Lacey is an older Aussie/BC mix with an attitude. She came into rescue with known behavior issues and after extensive evaluation, it has been determined that she cannot be placed as a family pet . With her foster mom, she is sweet and silly but can be snarky with other foster dogs and asserts herself frequently in play. When strangers approach the property, she barks and charges the fence. She does not bite, but makes a good show of trying to scare off anyone at the gate. Lacey cannot be in a typical pet situation. After careful consideration, it was determined that Lacey might do well with a job as a guard dog. She enjoys being outside, is protective of her person and property, and is a clever, alert dog. We believe she would bond closely to a new owner who needed help monitoring a FULLY FENCED commercial site or farm property. She cannot be chained or tethered in any way. Ever. Ideally Lacey would be allowed inside an office, barn or farm home but at a bare minimum, she needs a shelter on the property. While she much prefers to be outside and part of the action, a roomy shed or dog house and nice bed would be a requirement in a new situation. Finding an ideal placement for this dog is a long shot. We recognize that. Please understand that she will ALWAYS have a home with rescue but we believe, in the right situation, Lacey might just surprise everyone, find her doggie calling and thrive. No shady characters need apply. Lacey deserves a life with someone who will care for her properly and provide the best possible home and care. We?ve developed a special affection for this dog and will be particular about an appropriate, safe placement for her. A site or home visit will be required, as well as occasional follow up visits to ensure her well being. Thank you for your consideration of this girl. She is spayed and up to date on annual shots; her owner will need to get her a rabies shot and county license.
